Equitable healthcare for all is a human right. Let's work together towards more just & more efficient healthcare research and healthcare systems!
Today marks #HumanRightsDay! Inequalities in kidney disease and access to care persist, with some communities at greater risk due to factors like ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or geographic location. Let's work towards equitable healthcare for all. #WorldKidneyDay @UN
A global clinical trial by a team of researchers led by Dr. Amit Garg, a scientist at LHSCRI, has helped provide clarity about the best way to manage blood pressure during non-cardiac surgery to ensure patient safety and prevent damage to organs. /1
Thrilled to share that our late-breaking study on blood pressure management during surgery is now published! Huge thanks to my colleagues who contributed to this study. Together, we’re making strides to protect kidney health and improve patient safety. Onward!
Managing blood pressure changes during surgery is key to prevent kidney damage. A recent study by @AmitXGarg from @LHSCCanada compared BP management plans for surgery, providing new data on their effects on kidney health. Read more here: bit.ly/Amit-G-Study @Kidney_Int
I'm excited to present the late-breaking study "Effect of a Perioperative Hypotension Avoidance Strategy vs. a Hypertension Avoidance Strategy on the Risk of AKI" that I conducted with a team of investigators from around the globe at #KidneyWk today. @ASNKidney More soon!
#Psoriasis, an inflammatory skin disease, may increase the risk of kidney disease, especially in severe cases. The systemic inflammation from psoriasis can lead to complications like #hypertension and #diabetes, further raising the risk of kidney damage. #WorldKidneyDay
Have you checked the pragmatictrialstraining.ca website yet? Thanks to @TaylorMcLinden and the coordinating team for making this program happen!
I enjoyed attending the third @ACTAEC meeting in Quebec City last week. @AmitXGarg and the team are expanding capacity for pragmatic trials in Canada through the @HDRN_RRDS Pragmatic Trials Training Program (pragmatictrialstraining.ca) and a Clinical Trial Unit at @SchulichMedDent.
For people with CKD, managing #protein intake is essential. Limiting protein can reduce stress on the kidneys for those not on #dialysis, while a higher protein diet is needed once dialysis begins. #WorldKidneyDay #AreYourKidneysOK #KidneyHealthMatters
Donating a kidney can be a life-saving gift for someone in need. By choosing to donate, you have the power to give someone a second chance at life. Every kidney donation brings hope and transforms lives. #WorldKidneyDay #AreYourKidneysOK #KidneyHealthMatters
