This is genocide, not an exchange of opinions. If you can do more than voice condemnations to stop this obscenity, and all you do is condemn, you're complicit. Gaza has laid bare before our eyes how hollow humanist condemnations can themselves be a dehumanising form of racism.
The ALP leadership, cabinet and caucus are increasingly out of touch with its members and the community on recognition of Palestine. We need leadership not banal excuses and capitulation to the US and Israel. Never thought the ALP could sink so low! theguardian.com/australia-news…
Great thread on the danger of fixating on 'is it genocide or not'. If you are even having that conversation it is time for states to act. The focus should be on prevention of genocide, not waiting for a verdict after the fact.
This piece is mostly excellent (unsurprising since it extensively quotes Juliette and Mike). 1. ICJ cases move *very* slowly. Bosnia v. Serbia took 14 years. Croatia v. Serbia took 16 years. There are many procedural steps and the Court regularly grants extensions. 1/🧵
.@SenatorWong demand the immediate release of Australians Tan Safi and Robert Martin who have been abducted by Israel for trying to deliver critically needed aid to Gaza
Yasser Abu Shabab was arrested by Hamas in 2015 on charges of drug trafficking and theft, and sentenced to 25 years in prison. He escaped during the chaos of October 2023, when Israeli airstrikes reportedly hit the prison where he was being held. Since then, his so-called…
They keep hinting at emptying Gaza of its inhabitants. And you think: surely, such ‘final solution’-kind-of-project is unthinkable. But then you have to face the fact that Gaza is where the US-Israeli dominated Western colonial assemblage has made the unthinkable thinkable and
these same children who are starving to death right before our eyes tried holding press conferences begging us to save them in November 2023 and the world did nothing. I’ll genuinely never get over having to write these sentences as long as I live….the heart atrophies.
🚨BREAKING | Kidnapped at a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation @GHFUpdates death trap, 17-year-old Omar Nizar Asfour was released today from Israeli prisons, along with nine other Palestinian children who had been abducted at the same site in the Al-Shakhoush area, north of Rafah. All…

I’m in several Egyptian social media groups, and I’m constantly moved by the deep humanity of the Egyptian people. They know they cannot force their government to open the Rafah crossing, just as people in the West cannot force their governments to stop arming Israel or pressure…
The haunted eyes of a starving child: possibly dead by the time you read this. Powerful page 1 not of an anti-Israel or anti-semitic paper but the UK's most conservative. The UN says 80% of Gazans who've died of malnutrition are children. How long will the world let this go on?
A powerful call to conscience by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
A CALL TO CONSCIENCE: AN APPEAL TO THE LEADERS OF THE WORLD The tragedy unfolding in Gaza is a test of our shared humanity. Entire families are being murdered. Children — even babies — have been killed. Others are wasting away from hunger. This appalling disregard for human life…
Medically… A person who has entered an advanced stage of starvation cannot be saved by food and water alone. Without specialized medical care, death awaits nearby even if they’re suddenly offered lavish meals. This is a body whose systems have collapsed, whose muscles have…

Israeli hasbara is pushing hard for the total ethnic cleansing of Palestinians out of Gaza. They're attempting to frame their efforts as some kind of humanitarian concern, i.e.. they ask why are Gazans not allowed (by Egypt) to flee this war zone? Let's unpack some facts:

The slaughter of Palestinians desperate for food, on top of 50,000 civilian deaths, would persuade most people that right now anti-Palestinianism is a more deadly pathology in the world than anti-Semitism. Scenes in Gaza resemble the Warsaw Ghetto.
WE NEED URGENT ACTION, NOT WORDS! - Expel the Ambassador - Sanction Israel now People are being starved to death in font of our eyes! DO SOMETHING! @SenatorWong @AlboMP
