Delighted to have moderated several round tables today on the digital world with President Macron, VP Kamala Harris, Ursula von der Leyen, Justin Trudeau, not to mention the CEOs of YouTube, Microsoft, Amazon, Unicef etc ! @ParisPeaceForum Quite the day ! 😀

Trump, Putin's man in the White House - Just watched @C4Dispatches Lots on Russia interfering in US 2016 elections. As ever, weren't we all so lucky it never occurred to Putin to do same in the UK that year - and well done Johnson & May for stifling any investigation into that
Is Trump Putin’s man in the White House? What really underpins Trump’s relationship with Putin? Insiders give a unique behind the scenes view on the greatest political story of the decade. Watch ‘Trump: Moscow’s Man in the White House?’ Thursday 17th July at 9PM on @channel4.
Le Brexit, 9 ans après le référendum - j'en discute avec @MichelBarnier About to discuss Brexit, 9 years on👇 11h sur @franceculture chez @ilasserre

🇪🇺🇮🇳 = €120 billion new 🇬🇧🇮🇳= £4.8 billion Your friendly reminder the EU "is India’s 2nd-largest trading partner, accounting for trade worth €120 billion in 2024"↘️ on the day the UK signs its "most significant post-Brexit trade deal so far" worth ..... £4.8 billion ↙️

Reminder UK had at most a quarter of its current immigration levels when in the EU, and that Brexit added to this by doing away with previous returns agreements But UK media and politicians on both sides don't point this out for fear of offending those who stupidly voted for it
Now FoxNews has started publishing op-eds calling Trump & Gabbard's ludicrous efforts to deflect from Epstein by making stuff up about Obama "dangerous" With Murdoch turning against him by the day, they're sinking fast🍿🍿🍿

I'm old enough to remember Vicky Leandros belting out "Après Toi" to win Eurovision in 1973😀 Turns out she's still going strong in 2025 ! - refusing adamantly to sing at a concert on Monday because the leader of 🇩🇪extreme right AfD was in the audience 💪💪

"We'll have reduced drug prices by 1.400%, by numbers the likes of which you've never even dreamed of" Well no ! That'd mean pharmacists PAYING customers 14x the price of their products to buy them What a noodlehead ! and this starts👇with him saying "they do lie terribly"🤡
Germans not doing things by halves ! TV interview with far right leader almost drowned out by an angelic sounding "Scheiss-AfD" (Alternative für Deutschland) ("Shit AfD !") song blasted out in the background in front of the Bundestag 🤡 Reminiscent of Steve Bray @snb19692 💪
I've been in France since 1980 and this is the most French thing I've ever done ! "La Guinguette" (an open air café, often by a river) in the little town I now call home - just a lovely friendly atmosphere. If you're in Le Perche, do try it So I made this teaser for them👇 ❤️🇫🇷
What gobsmacking hypocrisy from @Jacob_Rees_Mogg Irrespective of what one thinks of Starmer sacking 4 of his MPs, Boris Johnson was "weak & petty" enough to get rid of TWENTY-ONE of his for not supporting his hard Brexit No wonder Rees-Mogg was sacked - BY HIS OWN CONSTITUENTS
Starmer's sacking of four MPs is not a sign of strength - it is a sign of weakness, of pettiness, of being thin-skinned. Read or listen to why this is here: letters.jacobreesmogg.com/p/yet-another-…
Geezer calls in to Johnson's sister, of all people, to complain 16 yr-olds shouldn't get to vote because their teachers "indoctrinate" them I'd rather that than the millions of my generation her brother indoctrinated into thinking the UK should try and get the Empire back🤡
‘My niece and nephew talk complete nonsense … I have to leave the room.' Caller William worries that ‘left-leaning’ teachers will ‘brainwash’ 16-year-olds, if given the vote.
...oh and it also transpires that the government is "keen for the British public to start seeing the benefits of the new Brexit agreements soon" Well yes ! it would be - seeing there's been sod all to see for the first 9 years !🤡

Oh look ! Like the Nightmare on Elm Street, Brexit talks are, we read "set to start" !😱 Yes ! phytosanitary & emissions talks haven't yet begun - but, lest anyone get too excited, proposals "must be approved by member states before the EU's executive can get down to business"🤡

I for one would rather trust 16-18 year-olds to vote for their future, than many of my own generation who stupidly voted to go back to some fantasy vision of their own past - robbing the former of a lot of the rights and opportunities they themselves had in the process
Regular followers may be surprised to learn that I have never once, in 15K+ tweets, called for🇬🇧to rejoin the EU But if the next decades are to be full of all this malarkey ↙️↘️"friendship treaties" "resets" "Kensington" this and "Windsor" that - why not just rejoin FFS !🤡 🇬🇧🇪🇺

Oh for goodness sake, it's only "genuinely unprecedented", "historic" and "the first ever since WW2" for the abundantly simple reason the UK never needed to sign "friendship treaties" with all its neighbours when it was in the EU, FFS ! Being in the EU did away with all this !
'Earlier today we did something genuinely unprecedented' PM Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz are holding a news conference after signing the first UK-German treaty since WWII Watch live trib.al/tlfItOA 📺 Sky 501, Virgin 602
Lots about 🇩🇪🇬🇧 "friendship" agreement being "landmark" It's only "landmark" and "1st ever" because we never actually needed one for all the time 🇬🇧was in the EU 🇪🇺 countries don't need to go round signing "friendship" agreements with each other, it's kind of on the packet 🤡
"This is a historic day for German-British relations" – @bundeskanzler. Germany and the UK have signed a landmark friendship treaty at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
"Small boats are a significant issue in🇬🇧media. Is it the same in🇫🇷?" Often surprised by navel-gazing of even the best UK journalists OF COURSE IT ISN'T! a) 🇫🇷has INcoming migration issues of its own b) doesn't have same "every day front page" media & politics obsession with it
Great news. 16 yr-olds to vote in UK elections 👏 The UK and Europe would be a very different place if 16 yr-olds had been allowed to vote for their future in 2016 - together with us UK citizens in the EU whose rights were also taken away without our having any say in the matter
