I have a new, informal podcast called WHEN WE ARE. It's all about what it's like to live and work in the midst of climate chaos and unprecedented discontinuity. Available on your podcast feeds, or through my newsletter. alexsteffen.substack.com/p/welcome-to-w…

"NIMBY activists and their allies are engaged in a fundamentally conservative project: helping a landowning elite hoard wealth by preserving an unfair status quo." theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
Highly recommend this @AlexSteffen Crash Course. It's a rare opportunity (at least in the climate world) to learn from someone who actually knows what he's talking about.
I'm leading another (new and improved!) Crash Course in Personal Ruggedization. If you're wrestling with how to protect your family and ready your life and work for the worsening of the planetary crisis, this is for you. More here: alexsteffen.substack.com/p/six-weeks-th… PS: please retweet.
Migrating my classes and consulting — including my personal climate strategy basics class, my crash course in personal ruggedization and my new advanced climate foresight course — over to Thinkific. So far, it's a huge improvement. alexsteffen.thinkific.com

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.
Great thread on how climate change is intensifying sudden downpours and exacerbating flash flood risks — and why it's important to understand the differences between extremes and means.
But let me be clear: Increasingly extreme downpours are one of the clearest meteorological manifestations of a warming atmosphere. This is already detectable in most place with adequate records (including eastern US); it will almost certainly become so elsewhere sooner vs later.
A few thoughts for all those in climate and sustainability who are experiencing a professionally devastating year. linkedin.com/posts/alexstef…
Many get that the Trump gang is accelerating climate chaos. Folks absolutely 100% do not get how much worse that crisis will be for them now with this defunding climate science, gutting disaster responses & demolishing even our limited progress on ruggedizing key infrastructure.
Quick reminder that today is the last day of our flash sale (50% off) for my Personal Climate Strategy: The Basics class. If you’re working on ruggedizing your life against the accelerating climate chaos around us, this is a good place to start. alexsteffen.thinkific.com/products/cours…
I'm offering an updated version of my climate ruggedization basics class on July 29th. If you're looking to start making better choices in this planetary crisis, check it out. (Also, you can get 50% off with the flash sale this weekend...) alexsteffen.substack.com/p/youre-gettin…

Happy birthday, America. Let's remember the people who got us this far, and not give up now all that they won along the way. youtube.com/watch?v=pwXvOz…

...build a civilization that works within our planetary limits, and furthermore, that the realm of possibilities for human experience within those ecological limits is essentially infinite.” 2/
Increasingly think this might be the most important chart in the world right now
China is on track to install ~20 times more solar in 2025 than the United States. Yeah.
