From today the UK is at the forefront of clamping down on people smugglers. The world’s first sanction regime dedicated to targeting people smuggling will target the assets of anyone complicit – including financiers and small boat sellers - and ban them from entering Britain.

The cuts to red-tape that the Chancellor is announcing today will help an extra 10,000 new home owners on the housing ladder every year. That’s not our words - that’s from Nationwide, who will now be able to expand their Helping Hand mortgage programme to support more buyers.

A Community Right to Buy was one of our movement’s flagship campaigns and a top priority at the last election. It was confirmed as policy in Labour’s 2024 manifesto. Now, it’s in the Bill. Thank you to everyone who helped make this historic moment happen.

Delighted to act as Honorary Admiral of the Fleet (thanks Ric!) at today’s Bulwell Boat Race. It was our fifth and biggest yet - huge thanks to all the organisations from the town who make it and the Arts Festival possible.

This time last year we were one day away from the general election. I’m counting down our wins in government over the last year and today I’m talking about delivering for the NHS.
I’m continuing my countdown to the first year of Labour government; today I’m looking at what the government has done to help councils and how that helps all of us.
