I write about the future of transportation, and other topics. Purveyor of truth about EVs. Owned many cars of all types. Daily driving Teslas since 2018.
In case anybody is wondering what synthetic fuel costs, and whether or not it’ll be the future:
If you had to pick one alternative fuel to power your next car, which would it be?
Can someone explain why nobody calls the model S a flop? It has less sales than the Cybertruck, and costs about the same - a major factor. I get that non-traditional styling turns off many buyers, who may already skeptical about EVs. Most don’t want to stand out. Yet by numbers…
U mean the Robovan revealed in October? Not expecting that to ever see the light of day. He seems interested in only revolutionary iPhone-like products that need developing once and then sell by the gajillions. Like Y, like Optimus and like Cybertruck, though latter flopped bad.
It’s the opposite of wearing rose-colored glasses. More like blackout welding goggles.
You can't make that up. 🤭 No offence or disrespect, Gary, but how stupid can a hedge fund manager be?
Looks like temperature is a major factor in stored battery degradation. The colder, the better. State of charge also matters, with <60% being a sweet spot. This is why devices often ship at 50%. Basically, if you are 75F or below, and somewhere in the 50% SOC range, you are at…
About half the calendar ageing at 50% compared with 80%. batterydesign.net/calendar-agein…
This is what Tesla did with the Model 3, called it a Y, and sold millions of them.
You want to pay for a complete redesign to add two more seats, new tooling for the different design plus manual controls and then all the extensive crash testing? Even if it does drive like a mule, still needs to pass muster. Never going to happen.
Will EVs save unreliable ICE manufacturers? Just watched this video of a guy asking mechanics what brand pays their bills. Most said Chrysler/Stellantis, a few mentioned GM, and a couple mentioned Kia and Hyundai. It got me thinking... Majority of legacy OEMs are now making…
This is all we need to get started reshoring American metalworking

Driverless trucks are coming and they’ll either: 1) avoid this altogether or 2) keep going and not notice
Wonder how it stacks up to the Tesla semi, and whether or not it has any self driving capabilities. The future of long haul trucking is both electric and driverless, but in the interim these will still save a lot on fuel and maintenance.
It's not sci-fi, it's a new electric truck from Deepway which lands in New Zealand this weekend. No word on range yet, but it has a 600kWh CATL battery with an 8 year or 1.5 million km warranty. Etrucks NZ are saying it'll be "NZ's most affordable BEV semi-tractor".
The electric corvette looks awesome and I bet it rips, too. They’re saying 10-15 years out, but that’s would be a shame. Should be the next gen IMO.
Just had a thought - EVs will make great camera cars. Quiet, fast, responsive and gobs of torque for all that equipment, combined with a low CG…
I was a Tesla skeptic until I drove one. It was a Model S 75D, and I simply couldn't believe the power it had. One of the fastest cars I've ever driven, quicker than a Z06 Corvette, but with all the civility, practicality and comfort of a regular 5 series. Instantly converted.…
Share a piece of Tesla lore about yourself
I would have guessed more try FSD, but I know this is fairly common. My own mom let it expire, because she didn’t know how to activate it, or what it was. It’s an information issue, and is somewhat generational. Many people are more scared of FSD than curious about it. Would…
NEWS: Elon Musk says 50% of @Tesla owners that could try FSD have not tried it even once. 🫠
Never seen a jack like that. Is it common in the UK?
Two cars getting new @MichelinTyres tyres today. ePrimacy for the Zoe and Tesla spec Pilot Sport 4 for the #Model3 Cheap tyres are a false economy! Stop buying them!!
One thing @X needs to implement is drafts that show up on all versions. If I start writing on my iPhone, I want to be able to resume it on my PC. I guess they are stored locally, to save on storage since it would have to also include media. Kind of a PITA though.
I find it amusing how quickly we adjust to new norms. This car has been sitting outside for several days while I clean the garage, and hasn’t been charging. Seeing 34% bothers me. It should always be full. Yet seeing 1/3 of a tank on your gas car is the most normal thing ever.
