I have finally graduated with an MScRes in Biological Science from Bangor University. Bangor was the best year of my life in terms of improving my academic and personal skills. I'll never underestimate the importance of having a supportive lab group. Thank you to everyone 🏴

After a great meeting with @charlie_pvrt & @tcahitch in Aachen, I am officially starting my new postdoc project on oak microbiota SynCom: purification of 452 oak isolates with @Alejandra211909 and the @FutureOak_ project! 💪🌳🧫 @jamesemcdonald
After a rather unexpected 6-week break, I came back to the lab today to find this beautifully overgrown isolate in one of the agar plates that remained on my bench. One isolate out of the thousands of our culture collection at @FutureOak_. Such a pretty growth pattern!! 😍🧫🦠🌳

Science is hard. Good research makes you feel stupid. You're inadequate for the task at hand. How else would it be? You're pushing the boundaries of knowledge. Get used to it. This process is immensely rewarding.
