Yes, the migration theories were early theories & assumptions by European historians. Between 1979–1999, archaeological surveys confirmed the Akan developed locally, with findings showing deep indigenous roots well over 1,000 years old.
interesting, got it. So all migration theories were derived from opinion with absolutely no basis. That’s an interesting take, thanks
Kotoku & Denkyira are from the Agona Abusua (clan); however, all three Akyem kingdoms trace their ancestral origins to Adanse. In fact, an overwhelming majority of Akan speakers once lived in the Pra & Offin basins before dispersing.
Adanse? Are you sure? They are denkyiras ooo

This theory was popularized by British colonial historian Eva Meyerowitz, who collected long-distance migration stories in the 1950s, many of which have since been refuted by the very oral historians she referenced, or proven exaggerated or misunderstood.
@AkanArchives As someone who is decently read on the history and genetics of various West African people the idea of the Akans being Sahelians is so ridiculous.
Very important information, please follow and tune in for more!
Many Akan communities trace their origins to sacred forest sites and rock shelters through oral traditions. Archaeological evidence not only confirms the indigenous origins of the Akan but also shows that many settlement sites were occupied for thousands of years.

That was debunked a long time ago. What books do people read in Ghana? Europeans came up with that theory of moving to the South because of Islam. Eva Meyerowitz confused gold-adorned Akans with Nubians & Mesopotamians. Akans were already interacting with Mande Muslims in Begho.
But oral history says we migrated from the the north after islam spread there? Like in mali etc. There are a lot of groups in ghana, could have been them that settled or for that matter anybody in west africa that settled nd moved at some point too. We are over 200.000 years old.
This is an outdated theory. Akan, Guan & other groups are indigenous to the forest regions of present-day Ghana & Côte d’Ivoire. Archaeology confirms early Akan towns, & oral traditions do not mention any migration from Wagadu or the Sahel.
The Guans are indigenous to modern Ghana ? They were here before Akans migrated in 12th century ? Oral history also says we migrated from the Sahel region after the breakup of Ghana empire
Okomfo Anokye was a historical figure. While some oral accounts include spiritual elements, his role in uniting the Asante states, establishing Kumasi as the capital, & codifying laws is well documented. Myth does not erase fact.
Okomfo anokye is a myth. Don't believe in a mystic creature born with beard, curse people, summon a stool from the sky and goes in search of a eternal life on earth. It is a scam propagated by the ashanti people of ghana
