Om Shanti. And all those mocking the pilot/IAF, have some sense, grace. Combat aviation, low flight strike piloting is the hardest piloting job, which is why most IAFs have moved away, moved to 5Gen/ medium alt. IAF has old Jags. No margin for error, or recovery from tech fault.

HAL is to be criticized for many things, but imo monopoly shouldn't be one of them. The blame for that goes directly to MoD - GoI when the volume required by IAF is so low. The chairman is absolutely right here. Now, whether HAL itself can be reformed is a question worth asking..
