I wanted to replace my pinned post with something deceptively simple perhaps…I always find painting wooden things both tricky and fun…so here’s some of my favourite bits and pieces in that regard…I haven’t used any of these for anything yet 🙄😊

Not sure if this will come across well but here are two photos before & after flat clear applications on the Ferret and it has kind of done what I was hoping…i.e. evened out those odd reflections from the glossy paint finish & of course dulled the gleam significantly too…🤔👍

So…this is already marvellous…their trip was done in 1978…the closest I got to this sort of adventure at a young age was a six week European inter rail and Greek island hopping fest about ten years later…

Nearly done with this Airfix Ferret…wondering what other British Cold War subjects might be out there in 1/35…not tanks but smaller subjects on this ‘Ferret scale’…and well done to Airfix too…a lovely kit…

The Airfix decals went down really nicely and I have committed to a green fire extinguisher…🤔👍

Just a general question for folks…if you have given the newish AK paint markers a go what have you used them for and how did you rate them…the rubber black ones are great for tyres & I am wondering about red & orange for vehicle sidelights perhaps…?

After four years of airbrushing this is were I’m at & I have to say I quite like it…dedicating airbrushes to different ‘jobs’ is a winner for me…👍😊

WIP 🙄…but getting there now. I have gloss varnished where the decals need to go hence the odd sheen on the red side & have experimented with a flat clear underneath that looks like it should knock down the overall sheen too. Wheels nearly done…rubber black with an AK marker 👍

Question for Ferret people…is this (circled) a fire extinguisher and if so should it be painted ‘green’…I have seen them in brass and in red on other vehicles. Airfix has it as green…is this correct? Comments very welcome…😊

Some photos of a less recent build and just a reminder that it’s cool to post your old builds in the community too…I’m sure folks would like to see as many builds as you can muster…new or old…👍😊

This is a fascinating website to rummage about in even if you have only a passing interest in military vehicles and uniforms…quite an incredible collection really… internationalmovie.com
I had an actual ‘request’ erm, elsewhere, for Panhards and if I’d built any. I built one a few years ago and just took some new photos of it so thought I’d put them on here too…

So I caved in a little…but I have not completely replaced my four year old ‘triggers broom’ of an H&S Ultra with the new model…let’s call it dallying with a newer version maybe…🤔😊

I broke out the aftermarket resin wheels & couldn’t resist a fitting (without the hubcaps but 🤷♂️). A few more bits to add to the body but I reckon a Ferret looks nicer when ‘raised up’ on her wheels…my first Airfix kit for 40 odd years is proving to be an enjoyable build 👍😊

I decided to use the PE exhaust cover as it has holes in it whereas the plastic part doesn’t…hence you can at least partially see the exhaust through it which makes it a bit more interesting perhaps…🤔👍

I think I have dragged this to at least being Ferret-ish or Ferret-y if such parlance exists. Feels like it’s been longer than about 10 days but it hasn’t…a few more bits to add and some decals, wheels and a dulling down too…🤔

Who knew that the front wings of a Ferret sported so much ‘furniture’? I swear I’ve had half of this lot on in the wrong place, off again & back on again or it’s been the wrong sidelights for the version I’m building …needs tidying obvs…ffs sometimes I feel like a fool…🙄😊
