I am advocating giving a roster spot to someone who can actually contribute to the team
Are you advocating Jon Singleton to take the spot as a pinch hitter option?
It's not like Walter has been the beneficiary of incredible luck either. His BABIP is not much lower than the league average and his home rate is a lot higher. I don't think this is some nine game fluke
Brandon Walter has a 3.35 ERA through his first nine MLB starts with close to a 15-1 strikeout to walk ratio. He's a 29-year old who was drafted in the 26th round and released last summer. I will never understand how every team isn't lining up to hire Astros pitching people
To make things even more confusing: I know of at least one pitching coach who didn't get a job specifically because of his ties with the Astros

The Braves are pretty bad and Chris Sale is under contract for next season, but I don't know how the Astros swing a trade like that
Remember: The Astros traded for Greinke not just to finish the 2019 season, but to replace Gerrit Cole in 2020 and 2021

Why would the Astros be pursuing a top of the rotation guy? Framber is not coming back next year. I see no way that he gets extended. They are looking for his replacement
I think the Asteroid is going to hit Earth before Matthews is slated to hit free agency
Keep Brice Matthews away from Scott Boras.
The Astros should get the extra year of club control on Brice Matthews
Knowing the Astros injury luck this season, Jose Altuve broke a finger, if not his whole hand on that play
The $250 million he gets this winter is going to buy a lot of cologne
Framber Valdez against the DBacks: 7 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 93 pitches, 60 strikes, 48 swings, 10 whiffs, 12 groundouts, 84.1 mph average exit velocity allowed. His ERA is 2.67.
I talked to an Astros exec during spring training who was incredulous that Brice Matthews wasn't on any public top 100 prospect lists. The reasons why: He was older and his strikeout rate was high. "It's ridiculous," the exec said. "He's 22 and everyone strikes out."
Venus Williams is out there beating real players in real tournaments despite being five years closer to drawing social security than she is from he first Wimbledon title
Venus Williams, born when Jimmy Carter was president, just took a set off a top 35 player in her first match in over a year. Seems likely she'll play in the US Open

He's staying in the game for now
Kyle Tucker just filed a ball off his leg and it looked pretty similar to what happened last year

It should've been clear to everyone already, but the Josh Okogie signing just reinforces how much Ime Udoka wants guys who can defend. He cares about defense and reboudining a lot more than he cares about shooting. That's why they put so much value on getting offensive rebounds
He should tell his agent. They are the ones who reveal how much contracts are signed for
Kyrie Irving believes NBA contracts should not be made public: "I wonder how much that puts a target on someone's life, where you know what's going on, you see it very causal… But I look at it, is it too much information at some point though?" via @YahooSports
That will be an early flight to Seattle for Shay Whitcomb tomorrow morning
Joe Espada said Isaac Paredes will have tests on his right hamstring but initially “it doesn’t look very good.”
