Good overview of how @atlanta_press's recent legal victory impacts ongoing efforts towards accountability for abuses by Georgia authorities
The case may have been a chance for Barwick to issue a precedent-setting opinion on how Georgia’s open records law applies to nonprofits like police foundations that do work that is almost entirely related to a government agency. She chose not to. The order is narrow.
The trial of Ayla King (a defendant in the Cop City RICO case) has been postponed again. Details available here: bsky.app/profile/atlpre…
Trial is scheduled to begin tomorrow for Ayla King, 1 of 61 defendants in the RICO case brought by the GA Attorney General to suppress protests against Cop City. The verdict will set the stage for all Cop City defendants, and for the rights of protesters everywhere going forward.

Chris Carr threatens to charge protesters with domestic terrorism. He knows this is unconstitutional (the courts will ultimately throw out such cases) but he hopes that in the meantime, shock and fear will keep people out of the streets. Don't let the AG's terrorist tactics win.

The authorities have deployed the military against protesters in Atlanta as recently as 2023. There's no doubt they will try it again sooner or later. But people have a right to protest, to march, to fight for justice. No power, not even the military, can take that away.
First the Atlanta Police Foundation, now the DHS/FBI...why are the authorities going to such lengths to conceal information about their activities against the Stop Cop City Movement?
NEW: We've teamed up with @ProjectSouth to sue the DHS and the FBI for failing to provide "Cop City" records on the surveillance of protesters
!! Judge Barwick just ruled in favor of the Atlanta Community Press Collective & Lucy Parsons Lab, who sued the Atlanta Police Foundation for (illegally) refusing to turn over public records about Cop City to the press. The police foundation has 30 days to produce the records.

The criminal legal system is being used by right wing politicians to punish their political enemies without ever showing evidence or holding a trial. If we allow the lives of protesters to be destroyed like this, the First Amendment is meaningless. apnews.com/article/cop-ci…
"No Cop City, No Cop World" will be published soon! Read about the history of the Stop Cop City movement, including an essay by an Atlanta Solidarity Fund organizer about political repression and what social movements can do to fight against it. Preorder: bookshop.org/p/books/no-cop…
Authorities in Cobb County are bringing felony charges against people protesting Marjorie Taylor Greene's town hall. These charges are fake and will be thrown out eventually, but police continue to use them to intimidate, attack and incarcerate critics. morgancountycitizen.com/news/local/dem…
We are committed to defending the rights of protesters like these. If you are targeted for arrest, violence, or harassment by the authorities for speaking out, you can contact us for assistance! You are not alone. npr.org/2025/04/16/nx-…

Yet another lawsuit against the City of Atlanta for the illegal policing tactics it used to suppress Cop City protests. Considering the scope of the City's abuses, we anticipate many more suits this year. decaturish.com/2025/03/decatu…
The trend is unmistakable. Nobody is safe from the criminal legal system, and no amount of obedience to the law or deference to the powerful can keep us safe. The only way to safety is to openly and uncompromisingly exercise our rights, and defend others who do the same.
The FBI is now moving to criminalize groups like Habitat for Humanity for “conspiracy to defraud the United States.” This comes after EPA Director Lee Zeldin eliminated the EPA headquarters in D.C. and 10 other regional offices. trib.al/ymL6xIB
It’s illegal to deport people for political speech, but that’s exactly what ICE is trying to do to this Palestinian Columbia student. interc.pt/43yR2B5
