At Alzheimer's Research UK, we stand for everyone affected by dementia. We stand #ForACure. 🟧 For general news from us follow @AlzResearchUK
The wait is over — the Alzheimer’s Research UK Conference returns in 2026! Join us on February 24-25 in Manchester or online for brand new networking opportunities and vibrant research exchange. Save the date: alzheimersresearchuk.org/research/for-r…
We’re proud to support Dr Stephanie Fowler and her team with a major project. They’ll be developing new treatments targeting tether proteins to prevent tau spread. Findings from this study could help diversify treatments for tauopathies.

We want to collaborate with the best researchers to speed up the search #ForACure. Together, we could find new ways to protect the brain – and your loved ones from the heartbreak of dementia. Help us make this possible: bit.ly/40R0Zbh
Our Advanced Clinical Fellowship will open soon, and we've got just the webinar to support your application! The webinar will touch upon grant writing and our funding culture generally - clinicians and non-clinicians alike are welcome. Register here: alzheimers.eventsair.com/research-webin…

Don't miss @UKDRI's research webinar with Dr Marc Aurel Busche exploring how brain circuits fail in early #Alzheimers - years before symptoms appear. Taking place Thu 24 July, 4-5pm (BST). Register for free: ukdri.ac.uk/events/rethink…
We’re excited to announce our new partnership with @WomeninNeuroUK , uniting our missions to champion EDI and women’s work in dementia research. This collaboration will strengthen inclusivity across our research community. #AlzheimersResearchUK #WomeninNeuroscienceUK #WomenInSTEM

We’re pleased to support @christina_neuro with a pilot project. They’ll be exploring how lipid cause damage to the nuclear envelope in FTD. Understanding the underlying disease mechanisms could reveal targets for new treatments.

We’re excited to support @Elena_Navarro with a pilot project. She is identifying new genes involved in lipid accumulation in microglia, which drives Alzheimer’s disease progression. They’ll use functional genomics and target validation to reveal new targets for therapeutics.

This week, we've been honoured to host our Grant Review Board, whose time and expertise continue to help us identify impactful research for people living with dementia. We’re deeply grateful for your continued dedication!
We’re proud to support Dr Suman De’s PhD student. They’ll be determining how APOE3Ch protects the brain, which could lead to new ways to prevent memory loss and slow Alzheimer’s.

“Here at Alzheimer’s Research UK, we have real hope for the future” Our Director of Research Dr Sheona Scales spoke to BBC Global News Happy Pod about what’s next for dementia research—from new ways to treat and diagnose Alzheimer’s disease. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0…
We’re excited to support a team at @QMUL with a pilot project. They’ll be using data from the UK Biobank to delve further into the link between cholesterol and dementia. Findings from this study could help shape dementia prevention strategies.

Newcastle University @Oli_Shannon seeks a Research Assistant or Associate to explore diet, brain health and dementia risk using UK Biobank data funded by @ARUKscientist. Closing date: 27th July dementiaresearcher.nihr.ac.uk/job/research-a…
We’re pleased to support a new PhD student in @cambridgeFTD who’s using donated brain tissue and advanced brain scans to reveal how inflammation and tau damage synapses in PSP. She hopes this will lead to treatments that slow or stop the disease.

We’re proud to award Dr Daniel Erskine a major project to see if fats are the ‘glue’ sticking alpha-synuclein together to form toxic clumps in DLB. Understanding this could lead to new treatment avenues.

We’re excited to announce that our @ALBORADA_DDI is partnering with Enhanced Genomics to harness 3D multi-omics to uncover new insights into Alzheimer’s biology Our collaboration will identify promising targets for future Alzheimer’s drugs enhanc3d-genomics.com/enhanced-genom…
Our new partnership with @CureParkinsonsT brings dementia expertise to the International Linked Clinical Trials programme - aiming to accelerate promising treatments for both conditions. alzheimersresearchuk.org/news/aruk-and-…

The first drugs proven to slow Alzheimer’s - lecanemab & donanemab - have been rejected for NHS use. While not cures, they represent a milestone for dementia treatment. Researcher, Dr Joyce Huang at @OfficialUoM explains more: alzheimersresearchuk.org/news/nhs-patie…
A fantastic morning at the @AlzResearchUK Research Day! An emotional and inspiring talk by Jordan Adams set the tone for a day of brilliant science, including a great keynote from @FionaDucotterd on advancing medicines for neurodegenerative diseases.
