A Friday afternoon dessert indulgence to say goodbye to Jennifer. Thank you for all your hard work, Jennifer, and we hope that you enjoyed your summer project. A big thank you to the RSC Missing Elements grant scheme for funding Jennifer's summer placement.

I'm really pleased to see that Sam's paper on hypervalent iodine(V) fluorides is out in BJOC. Sam, thank you so much for all of your hard work.
Oxidative fluorination with Selectfluor: A convenient procedure for preparing hypervalent iodine(V) fluorides. beilstein-journals.org/bjoc/articles/…
I still have a PhD position available in my research group at the University of Leicester on designing new synthetic methodology for fluorination using hypervalent iodine reagents. Start date: 23 September 2024.

Many congratulations to Sophia Gloria for winning the prize for the best oral presentation at the 22nd RSC Fluorine Postgraduate meeting in Newcastle. We're all very proud of you @PulisGroup @Leicesterchem

Thank you so much to Matt Hopkinson and his team for hosting the RSC Fluorine PG Meeting in Newcastle. Fantastic conference with lots of exciting new research in fluorine chemistry.
We had a great time hosting the @RoySocChem Fluorine Interest Group Postgraduate Meeting! Thanks to everyone who contributed to a great couple of days of #fluorine chemistry! @ChemistryNCL @SciencesNCL
Only 2 weeks left to apply for my PhD in synthetic organic chemistry at University of Leicester. Closing date for applications is 31st January 2024.
I am pleased to announce that I have a funded PhD position in synthetic organic chemistry with Alex Pulis @PulisGroup starting in September 2024. Closing date for applications: 31st January 2024. More details available here: findaphd.com/phds/project/e…

I'm so excited about watching our very own, UoL chemist, Josh Smalley @joshpsmalley in the final of the Great British Bake Off tonight! Good Luck Josh!
From the @uniofleicester @Leicesterchem lab to the final of @BritishBakeOff – what a journey it has been for our very own @joshpsmalley. We are very proud of his impressive creations. Good luck for the final, Josh! #GBBO #bakeoff
Thank you Berit for a fantastic conference. Great chemistry with old friends and new friends.
We are growing!!! Here are the women in hypervalent iodine joining forces and having a great time at the #ICHIC7 @BeritLab @TempleWLab @DelordWencel @MMMarquesLab @MiriamODuill @AMStuart19 @abcuengo
Good performance in your viva today, Harry. Well done.
Many congratulations to Harry Bird from the Fossey group on his successful PhD viva today @UoBChemistry. Thanks to examiners Alison Stuart and John Wilkie.
Members of the Pulis @PulisGroup and Stuart Research Groups (Laura Winfrey, Alex Pulis, Alison Stuart, Alex Bowles and Sam Dearman) enjoyed running in Leicester’s Big 10k at Abbey Park yesterday. Abbey Park provided a beautiful venue and more importantly, a flat course!

Looking forward to visiting Oxford again for the 21st RSC Fluorine Postgraduate Meeting
Registration and abstract submission for the 21st RSC Fluorine Postgraduate Meeting is now live! This event will be hosted by @GouverneurGroup in Oxford on the 11th-12th April and will celebrate all areas of fluorine chemistry. rsc.org/events/detail/…
This is a fantastic new teaching resource for Year 1 organic chemistry. Thank you Dave.
My latest paper explores the development of priority & selectivity rules to teach introductory organic reaction mechanisms to Year 1 chemistry undergraduates. The aim is for students to predict mechanisms, rather than just learn them. #chemed #chemtwitter pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
Looking forward to my visit to Stockholm in June

This part of Mark Thomas' acceptance speech for an honorary doctorate at Kent is quite something!
I felt very proud of Gemma and Will, who both completed their PhDs in my research group, and Andrew, who was my personal tutee throughout his undergraduate degree.
It was lovely to welcome back Leicester Graduates, Andrew Warner, Gemma Harris and Will Riley, to the School of Chemistry to promote a career with @SygnatureDiscov to our PhD students. It was fantastic to see them all doing so well in their careers. #chemtwitter @LeicesterAlumni
We've just had a fantastic day celebrating the research carried out by our PhD students. It was great to see talks and posters from all the sections of our School for what it was a real showcase of talent! #chemtwitter @uniofleicester @charnwoodmol

We have a new paper out today. We have been studying the use of pentafluoropyridine to generate acyl fluorides. We also developed a one-pot amidation too. Check it out in Org Lett @JOC_OL. #Fluorine @Cobb_Group pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
