The Alabama Football Coaches Association is proud to announce that Coach Danny Powell has been selected as recipient of its 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award. He will be honored at the ALFCA Coach of the Year Banquet at The Embassy Suites in Montgomery on January 31st.

The Alabama Football Coaches Association is proud to announce that Terry Curtis has been selected as recipient of the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to high school football in our state. He will be honored at the ALFCA Banquet in January in Montgomery.

The Alabama Football Coaches Association is proud to announce Coach Curtis Coleman has been selected winner of its Lifetime Achievement Award. Coach Coleman will be honored at the ALFCA Coach of the Year Banquet in Montgomery on January 31st.

The AHSAA has announced it will form a task force to study the growing problem of student transfers. Coach Terry Curtis, board president, will work with AHSAA director Heath Harmon to set up a group of principals, ADs, superintendents and coaches to study the issue.

The AHSAA Legislative Council approved two proposals at yesterday’s meeting. 1) Schools will need to mark transfers students on their eligibility documents and 2) Students may not transfer from one school to the other during the same season. This was supported by the ALFCA.

The AHSAA proposals are out for vote. The ALFCA board of directors voted in its January meeting to support Proposal #11. We ask that our coaches support this with your school’s vote. Voting must be submitted by noon on March 25th. Vote “Yes” on Proposal #11.
