John MacArthur was the first man I heard preach as one under authority. I’ll never forget popping in that tape in my 98 Explorer around 2004: “The myth of Influence.” I was struck to the core. This was different preaching, the kind I wanted to give my life to. Thankful.

Of the many benefits brought to evangelicalism through MacArthur, one that is under appreciated is his teaching that the church is to be led by a plurality of male elders. This, before the amazing influence @9Marks now has. He preached on it reg. and first published on it in '84.
