John MacArthur was the first man I heard preach as one under authority. I’ll never forget popping in that tape in my 98 Explorer around 2004: “The myth of Influence.” I was struck to the core. This was different preaching, the kind I wanted to give my life to. Thankful.

"The steps which lead to this conclusion [not caring for your own soul] are easy and common. Begin with not honoring the Lord's Day, and you will soon not honor God's people; cease to honor God's book; and in time you will give God no honor at all." -J.C. Ryle
Charles Simeon on preaching: "My endeavor is to bring out of Scripture what is there, and not to thrust in what I think might be there. I have a great jealousy on this head; never to speak more or less than I believe to be the mind of the Spirit in the passage I am expounding."

What a joy to minister the Word alongside these Godly brothers this year at Onecamp 360!

“The Baptist understanding of the relation between the covenants is truly our defining theological commitment. Our covenantal hermeneutic influences everything . . . " @lukestamps @M_Y_Emerson "The Baptist Vision"
Of the many benefits brought to evangelicalism through MacArthur, one that is under appreciated is his teaching that the church is to be led by a plurality of male elders. This, before the amazing influence @9Marks now has. He preached on it reg. and first published on it in '84.
Refreshing to hear of the Lord’s work in Nairobi through Ken Mbugua of Emmanuel Baptist (at High Pointe Baptist).

8 years ago today. I sent this to Alicia. She said, "Oh my. What a sweet life. Can we do it again?"

I heard Chris Harper say: 0.01% of kids will go pro in any sport. 0.4% will get into an Ivy League school (you don't want that leftist indoctrination anyway), but 100% of kids will one day stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

"It is easy for me to imagine that the next great division of the world will be between people who wish to live as creatures and people who wish to live as machines." -Wendell Berry
