AAP took in nine sugar gliders that were living underneath a staircase in a Dutch family home. 3 years ago, they started out with 2 animals, now the family grew to 9 sugar gliders. The situation became untenable. #WildAnimalsNotPets
Thank you to alderman @RNBarker from #TheHague for visiting AAP in Almere! We explained our work and discussed the vital role municipalities play in protecting animal welfare in NL and EU, highlighting the importance of #PositiveLists in curbing the wild animal pet trade.

Last week, the #EP made it very clear that an EU-wide #PositiveList is needed to prevent unsuitable wild animals from becoming pets. Big shout out to @Act4AnimalsEU & @FOURPAWSBE for their leadership & big thank you to all MEPs that showed their commitment to animal welfare.

Rescued animals almost always arrive alone at AAP, because they have been kept as pets without other animals of their own kind. Caretaker Pedro tells us more about the socialisation of two caracals and why it is important for their welfare.
Tigers Mara & Nashik were rescued from a closed German wild animal petting zoo and taken to AAP Spain. The animals entertained people their entire lives. Visitors to Filmtierpark Eschede could take photos and even pet them. In addition, they were loaned out for films...
