Great weekend in Normandy with work. It’s been a while since I’ve led a battle field tour, but it was a pleasure to take the group around Port-en-Bessin, and follow the footsteps of 47 (RM) Cdo on 7-8 June 1944 and their battle for the town. An incredible feat of arms. 🥂

Today, we marked the 5th anniversary of the Royal Marines & Commando Forces Servicewomen's Network. Bringing together sailors, soldiers, and Bandies, with their colleagues from across the Corps and UKCF, for workshops, networking, and some time on the water for "make and mend".

When 2 heroes from #DDay meet… Both #RoyalMarines landing craft coxswains Norman Ashford and Jim Grant met at Port en Bessin today with serving and veteran Royal Marines. On D-Day they coxswained the landing to deliver troops to begin the liberation of Europe.

Members from 47 Cdo attended a memorial service at @mt_edgcumbe today to commemorate #VEDay80 US troops departed here for Omaha Beach, Normandy for #DDay. This marked the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany and ultimately lead to Victory in Europe on this day 80 years ago.
