Depression will lie to you in your own voice. It will tell you that you’re not trying hard enough to be happy, or that you’re weak and lazy and don’t deserve happiness. Depression lies. It is a serious, but treatable medical condition. Don’t believe the lie. Get help.…

If I had a magic wand, I’d take away your pain and show you your value and self-worth. I would make you see that you are loved and that you matter. While I don’t have a magic wand, I can still listen, and be here, and tell you that you are enough and always have been.…

Men die by suicide 4x more often than women. The uncomfortable truth is that traditional notions of what it is to be a man, may be a contributing factor. As boys, we’re taught not to show emotion, not to show vulnerability. Bruh, it’s okay to admit you need a hug. #StopSuicide

When you’re struggling emotionally, it can be difficult to ask for help. It may feel like nobody understands your pain. Truthfully, no one ever fully understands another’s pain, but with help, others have been able to recover. You can do the same. You are not alone. #StopSuicide

Thank you again, my idol and fan, for this meaningful advice! Let's not get carried away by the discrimination of others, and above all, let's have SELF-ESTEEM! DON'T OWN SOMEONE ELSE'S IGNORANCE @Doctor_David #StopSuicide #BeHereTomorrow #WeightliftingIsMyTherapy #998Lifeline
When it comes to race, ethnicity, or diagnosis, people don’t discriminate against you because of who you are, but because of who they are. Their hatred may be about you, but it’s not “because” of you. Your existence isn’t the problem. Don’t own someone else’s ignorance.…

“We don’t share a diagnosis but we share a common bond of humanity.” -@1of2vics on the role of allies in mental health. Whether it is being a part of a friend or loved one’s safety plan or an advocate for mental health at work, we can all do our part. Never worry alone 🌱

Like a physical illness or injury, mental health challenges are something you respond to and take care of, but they are not who you are. Mental health challenges don’t define you. Reducing a person to a diagnosis, whether mental or physical, discounts their humanity. #StopSuicide

If you want to know how to support someone who is battling severe depression, just be physically and emotionally present, and create safe space for them to share whatever they are experiencing. Remind them that you care and that they are not alone. #StopSuicide

Today, the national LGBTQ+ youth suicide lifeline is officially discontinued. 988 is still here if you need mental health support. LGBTQ+ youth can also reach a trained counselor at @TrevorProject Lifeline by calling 1-866-488-7386 or texting START to 678 678. #AFSPadvocacy
Sometimes the behavior we label as manipulative is actually someone crying out to be recognized as a human with value and worth. Often someone who has been the victim of complex trauma may find it difficult to articulate the loneliness, pain, and guilt they carry. #StopSuicide

Can a clinician truly provide “person centered care” for a person of color without acknowledging the impact of systemic racism and complex trauma? Person centered treatment should validate the lived experience of the individual receiving care. #StopSuicide
