🥇BREAKING🥇: @20DaysMariupol WON THE OSCAR FOR ‘BEST DOCUMENTARY’. I hope world sees this moment as even more of an imperative to push to amplify the truth about what is happening in #Ukraine. We did it, team. Our work has just begun.
Ya’ll sure like getting in Ukraine’s political business while you chastise Ukrainians for having an opinion on other countries’ politics.
Two things can be true at the same time: - Ukraine’s government did stupid shit and needs a course correction. - Destabilizing Ukraine and helping Russia occupy is a million times worse than a shitty democratic government. And don’t be fooled to think Ukrainians don’t know it.
Сімʼя в Україні: дружина на протесті, чоловік на бойовому
👀👀
Fascinating how russian shills found the videos of Ukrainians protesting, yet they seem unable to find any war footage🤡
Regardless of what you think of Ukrainians protesting right now, the fact that they have the energy to be fearlessly vocal when they've been bombed daily for the last 3 years is pretty fucking extraordinary.
This thread might be one of the *only* ones to reference if you're going to try to understand what's happening in Ukraine right now.
Instead of replying to each question, I decided to put together a thread that better explains the context of the recent protest, and why this particular law triggered such an unexpected reaction, especially for those, who don’t follow internal Ukrainian politics. 🧵Thread:
I just want to say, given what I'm observing here. Do not lose faith in Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. No matter what anyone says. Each of you has been with us for many years, don't let (anyone) break your faith in us, in this difficult time. Thanks!
I'm every day closer and closer to removing anything NAFO related from my account. The bullying, hate and overall ENTITLEMENT some of the members have is beyond me. The only thing that kept Ukraine alive and thriving is the UKRAINIAN ARMY, each soldier who took arms. 🧵
When Russia attacked Ukraine in 2022, this platform was flooded with ppl trying to align themselves with Ukrainians: effusive DMs wanting to be friends, wanting to help, “hey let’s trade numbers” they would say. I always found it a bit suspect. And now, many of these same ppl…
Reminder: If you throw a tantrum because someone asked you for accountability (on a platform that we all heavily use to do the best for Ukraine), that sounds like a *you* problem, not a *them* problem 😏
Who wants to see the Drone footage of this American traitor 👀
Very tempting to comment on current situation in Ukraine. I am off the grid now, on my way to vacation. Literally no idea on what’s happening in Ukraine. I suggest reading @MelaniePodolyak and @IAPonomarenko for the updates.
I have more faith in Ukrainian civil society right now than I have in US civil society tbh.
A reminder that this Friday night is the NYC premiere of Mstyslav’s new documentary, with UK and Ireland cinema releases from Aug 1. PLEASE watch this extraordinary film if you can get to a screening. 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Finally, the trailer for ‘2000 METERS TO ANDRIIVKA’ by @mstyslavchernov— I was honored to work on this as a translator, with @frontlinepbs. The film will be screening in UK and Irish cinemas starting August 1st. Tickets: 2000meters.film
DON’T PUSH THE HORSES
Ukrainians organizing massive protests with 3 hour notice and cardboard from a local postal service on a Tuesday, I really love this country
I think a lot of westerners are about to find out that Ukrainians don’t hold Zelensky as precious and untouchable as they think they did do. In either a positive or negative way. He is fallible. There is no personality cult.
Ukrainians always show the rest of the world how to use their voices when fighting for democracy. Take notes. 🇺🇦🔥 🎥: lena.balbek/IG

Too many of you hold Ukraine to a much higher standard than you hold other countries. Too many of you hold Ukrainians to a much higher standard than you do other humans. Too many of you vilify, tone-police, and harass Ukrainians when you're the one sitting comfortably behind…

Many ask me how I manage, and honestly, I don’t know. Some days, it comes as if naturally. And others, like right now, I am just a walking and breathing pain. Everything I am hurt. So I’m just trying my best to survive through it.
